I found this lovely 1909 postcard at one of my favorite stores, Astoria Vintage Hardware. As soon as I picked it up, I remembered another photo of two of the most fascinating people who ever lived – Gerald and Sara Murphy, dancing on the sand near the Hamptons. She was one of the inspirations for the Gibson girl image and they went on to live as expatriates in France during the 1920s. They were friends with and inspired Picasso, Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Still inspiring me today, almost 100 years later.
